THE ZEN PRINCIPLES OF AESTHETICS
FUKINSEI (imbalanced)
Asymmetry, odd numbers, irregularity, unevenness, imbalance is used as a denial of perfection as perfection and symmetry does not occur in nature.
KANSO (simple)
Elimination of ornate and things of simplicity by nature expresses their truthfulness. Neat, frank and uncomplicated.
KOKOU (austere)
Basic, weathered bare essentials that are aged and unsensuous. Evokes sternness, forbiddance, maturity and weight.
SHIZEN (natural)
Raw, natural and unforced creativity without pretence. True naturalness is to negate the naive and accidental.
YUGEN (subtle profound)
Suggest and not reveal layers of meaning hidden within. Invisible to the casual eye and avoiding the obvious.
DATSUZOKU (unworldly)
Transcendence of conventional and traditional. Free from the bondage of laws and restrictions. True creativity.
SEIJAKU (calm)
Silence and tranquility, blissful solitude. Absence of disturbance and noise from one’s mind, body and surroundings.

"O Porto mexe. Convida e apetece. Renovou-se. Está mais cosmopolita e boémio. Inspira-nos. Nos últimos anos, a zona da Baixa foi tomada de assalto por um movimento de jovens urbanos e criativos com iniciativa e vontade próprias. As velhas ruas e artérias foram ocupadas por lugares com alma que respiram o ar deste tempo. São lojas, cafés, mercearias, galerias, restaurantes e bares pluridisciplinares que servem à la carte um novo modo de estar.
Há um bairro de artistas onde o vinil está na moda, cafés que vendem chá, roupa e objectos de design, bares que apresentam teatro, concertos e poesia, ou restaurantes que se transformam em noites de dança animadas por DJ. A geração que está a agitar a cidade cresceu com o Porto 2001, viajou, tem gosto próprio e contaminou esta energia para a zona histórica da cidade, que se encontrava praticamente esquecida.
Este é o futuro de um passado que teve início na Miguel Bombarda com a abertura de galerias e a invasão de prédios devolutos por parte de jovens artistas e comerciantes. Nas novas geografias urbanas cruzam-se tendências e experiências de várias cidades europeias. Há cada vez mais Berlim, Londres e outras capitais dentro deste mapa. Assim é o novo Porto, cool e apetecível."

ALPHABET FONTS by TYPEGUY
The font family is called "Alphabet Fonts." It was created for Knowledgeopolis, a publishing company for children's books. This series of fonts was developed to be used in writing texts. The kids trace the characters and learn how to write. There are 5 fonts in the series: Regular, Bold, Dashed, Directional, and Start Dot. The Directional and Start Dot fonts were designed to overlay the bold font using "X-Y" coordinates in Quark.

RECIPEASE
Celebrated chef Jamie Oliver has just launched Recipease, a new retail concept for food and kitchen shop where anyone can learn to cook and make great food on the spot. At Recipease, shoppers can come and ask questions, learn new skills, get inspiration and try some really fantastic food from the professional chefs. They also provide fresh daily meals for take away with beautiful packaging.
Like the shop concept, the Recipease packaging tells stories, the packaging communicated a sense of ‘meal assembly’ using the simple idea of a food kit, filled with illustrations and witty repartee about good food and easy cooking.
